Jaconell is one of the most sought after session- and live musicians, arrangers and producers in South Africa.  Her abilities are being recognized by various European and American artists including American saxophonist, Dave Koz. Jaconell features on his latest album, "Gifts Of The Season",  and is booked to join him on his annual "Dave Koz Cruise" in 2020.

Jaconell Mouton grew up on a farm near the Cederberg mountains in the Western Cape, South Africa. She finished her high school education at Stellenbosch High School and went on to study music in Pretoria at TUT. She received a bursary for best student.
While studying she worked as freelance musician playing piano, keyboards, saxophone and singing backing vocals on live shows, album recordings and DVD recordings.

In 2003 Jaconell was asked to join the longest running (music) game show in South Africa, "Noot vir Noot" as keyboardist, saxophonist, backing vocalist and assistant-arranger. In 2012 she took over the position as musical director and main arranger. Even though the live band was replaced with a DJ in 2019, Jaconell continues to be the musical director, producing all the pre-recorded music for the show. Other TV shows she's been musical director of include shows like "Sweepslag" (2008 - 2009), "Musiek Roulette" (2014 - present), "In Die Kollig" (2018), various episodes of "Klankgrens" (early 2000's). 
In total Jaconell has acted as musical director for almost 350 TV episodes and been on screen for over 400 broadcasts.

Jaconell works with artists all over the world including Dana Winner, the late Demis Roussos, Leo Sayer, Herman van Veen, Stef Bos, Dave Koz, Crash Test Dummies.

Music from Jaconell's debut album, "Soul Story Lullabies" was also featured on Dave Koz's radio show, "The Dave Koz Lounge", that airs on SiriusXM in the USA, Puerto Rico and Canada.

Her 9 year collaboration with 3 x Grammy winner, Jeremy Lubbock, involved her in projects for Fourplay, Stevie Wonder, Chris Botti, Josh Groban, 3T and Richard Marx.

All in all Jaconell has worked with over 350 different artists in different capacities.

Jaconell creates from her beautiful studio (Sunbird Sounds) in Cape Town.  The studio has a sonically world-class live room overlooking the water from behind a fantastic Yamaha C2X grand piano.

 

Awards & Nominations:
In 2011 Jaconell produced an album for
Coenie de Villiers, “Hart van Glas” which received a SAMA (South African Music Award) nomination for “Best Adult Contemporary Album” as well as “Best Creative Album Of The Year” at the Wawela awards. 

In 2013 she was the main producer of the “Wals, Wals Willemien” album for Laurika Rauch, who won a Ghoema  award for “Best contemporary album by a female artist”. The same album was also nominated for “Best contemporary album of the year” at the Tempo Awards.  This album reached "Gold status" within the first 3 weeks of release.

Apart from also producing Coenie de Villiers' next album, “Emoji” in 2016, she also co-wrote 1 of the tracks (Shesha) with him which was performed in collaboration with Grammy winner, Wouter Kellerman. “Emoji” got nominated for 4 Ghoema awards and won the award for “Best Producer” in 2017. The album also had a SAMA nomination for “Best Afrikaans Contemporary album”.

In 2019 Jaconell received a Special Award Of Excellence for “Outstanding contribution to the music industry in South Africa” from Stellenbosch High School at their Prestige Arts Event.
